Privately-owned housing starts in the United States posted double-digit growth in November, while building permits and completions saw slight growth during the period.
- Housing starts in November stood at 1.679 million, up 11.8% from October’s 1.502 million and 8.3% from November 2020’s 1.551 million. Single-family housing starts grew by 11.3% to 1.173 million, while units in buildings with five units or more were 491,000.
- Building permits for the month were recorded at 1.712 million, up 3.6% from October’s 1.653 million and 0.9% from November 2020’s 1.696 million. Single-family units were at 1.103 million, while units in buildings with five units or more were 560,000.
- Completions for the month were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.282 million, up 4.1% from October’s 1.231 million and 3.1% from November 2020’s 1.244 million.
Single-family housing completions for the month were at 910,000, down 0.1% from October’s 911,000.
