Coinbase has denied rumors that it helped the US agencies to seize bitcoin worth $2.3 million paid to Colonial Pipeline hackers.
- Coinbase said it was not a target of the warrant and did not get any portion of the ransom as claimed.
- Coinbase also said the funds did not go through its wallet, even as the exchange faced an outcry from its users and bitcoin fans.
- US authorities are yet to disclose the private key that allowed them to access the hackers’ digital wallet.
The seized $2.3 billion ransom was a portion of $4.3 million paid to the hackers who shut down the Colonial Pipeline.
