Sales of new single-family houses increased by 11.9% to stand at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 811,000 in December 2021.
- The latest figures reflect an 11.9% increase compared to the revised figure from the prior month and a 14% drop from December 2020.
- The median sales price of new houses sold totaled $377,700, as the average sales price was $457,300.
- The estimate of new houses available for sales at the end of December stood at 403,000, translating to a six-month supply at the current pace of sales.
For the full-year 2021, the Department of Commerce’s report stated that 762,000 new houses were sold over the year, indicating that new house sales dropped by 7.3% from 2020.
