The UK’s exports increased and imports decreased in February compared to the same period of last year.
- The total exports of goods, excluding precious metals, rose by £2.1 billion ($2.73 billion) or 7.8% in February, attributable to a £3 billion or 25.4% increase in exports to EU countries.
- The total imports of goods, excluding precious metals, dropped by £1billion or 2.2% in February due to a £0.7 billion or 3% fall in imports from the EU nations.
- Imports from non-EU countries decreased by £0.3 billion or 1.3% in the month.
- The trade in goods deficit worsened by £10.2 billion to £54.4 billion in the three months to February as imports of goods rose by 10.8% and exports jumped by 4.1%.
The trade in services surplus rose by £1.6 billion in the three months to February 2022 to £33.2 billion.
