New orders for manufactured goods in March increased by $11.8billion or 2.2% to $557.3 billion after a 0.1% increase in February.
- New orders for manufactured nondurable goods rose by $3.1 billion or 1.2% to reach $270.3 billion in March.
- Shipments rose by 12.6 billion or 2.3% to $556.4 billion after increasing by 1.1% in February.
- Unfilled orders rose by $5.5 billion or 0.4% to $1,294.8 billion. The increase comes after a 0.5% jump in the prior month. Unfilled orders to shipments ratio edged down to 6.72 from 6.74 in February.
Inventories rose by 1.33% or $10.4 billion to $797.6 billion after increasing by 0.9% in February. Inventories-to-shipments ratio dropped slightly to 1.43 from 1.45 in February.
