The US private sector added 455,000 jobs, more than estimated in March, as employers continued to recruit more people amid a tight labor market.
- March job gains were the same across all sizes of businesses like most sectors. Leisure and hospitality led the job gains, adding 161,000 positions.
- Education and health services firms added 72,000 jobs and professional and business services companies followed with 61,000 job gains.
- March presented a solid environment for employers looking to promote their ranks. The ADP figures signal that the jobs recovery was still robust through the end of the first quarter.
- Nela Richardson, chief economist at ADP, stated that businesses are hiring, more so among the service providers who had a long way to go due to the early pandemic losses.
Richardson further noted that tight labor supply remains a challenge for continued growth in consumer-facing industries.
